Pastor David presented an eternal truth during his Easter message, stating that “The Gospel is that the crucified Christ became and is the resurrected Christ” .
This brief response will simply be an encouragement to consider the two “hinges” that Pastor David referenced in his sermon. He spoke of the hinges being the death and resurrection of Jesus. But I suggest that we aught to search out the scriptures and consider how it is that I benefit from this death and resurrection. How can the death of Christ and the resurrection of Christ, which occurred apart from me, have immediate bearing and transforming power upon my soul?
I recommend that you begin at Romans 6:3-11 and reflect upon your union with Christ. Then look to Romans 5:16-21 and consider your union with Christ. Then look to Galatians 2:19-21 and consider your union with Christ. Then look to 1 Corinthians 15:20-23 and consider your union with Christ. Then look to Romans 7:4 and 8:9 and 14:7-9 and consider your union with Christ. Then look to John 6:56 and 15:4-6 and consider your union with Christ.
Surely if we are not united with Christ by faith in his identity and work then we are not united with him in death and we are not united with him in resurrection life. Let us each abide in Christ and enjoy union with our King! Let us not trust anything in us but merely the person and work of Jesus and may we therefore live unto God and not for ourselves.
Soli Deo Gloria!
