Today in God’s Word
Judges 19; Acts 23; Jeremiah 33; Psalms 3-4
Today we read in Jeremiah 33 about the LORD’s eternal covenant with David from Jer 33:14-26. Here the main points seem to be that the Messiah who will come from David’s house will be known as “The LORD is our righteousness” and that there is nothing that can hinder the LORD from fulfilling this promise to put an eternal king in place.
From a New Testament perspective we know that Christ indeed is our righteousness because we have exchanged our sin in the double imputation upon the cross whereby he became sin and I became the righteousness of God (2 Cor 5:21; Phil 3:9; Rom 10:4; Rom 3:21-22)!
