Today in God’s Word
1 Samuel 31; 1 Corinthians 11; Ezekiel 9; Psalm 48
Today in 1 Corinthians 11 Paul presents an idea of headship. He indicates that Christ is the head of every man as that the head of Christ is God. Though there is divine equality in the trinity there is also a hierarchy of responsibility or role with a unity of purpose. In marriage Paul clarifies that the husband is the head of the wife.
Men, may we not seek out our authority as much as we do our responsibility here. We have a responsibility to fulfill and we have zero role in establishing the authority.
Do we know what burden is upon us and how to carry it?
Do we know how Christ fulfilled his headship of the church?
How did Christ demonstrate surrender to the headship of the Father?
How do we demonstrate surrender to the headship of Christ?
Do we give an example for our wives to imitate as Paul gave to the church at Corinth?
How do we practice biblical headship in our marriage?
What can I do today to serve my bride as Christ serves the church?
What can I do today to submit to Christ as he has submitted to the Father?
Soli Deo Gloria!
