From Today in God’s Word
1 Samuel 12; Romans 10
Today Paul makes a case for the kind of heart level religion that Jesus preached from the mount. In Romans 10 we see the failure of the Jews to find salvation in the law because they approached it as if it were based on works. The works are like the confession…an outward action that should be in response to an inward faith. It is trusting Jesus from the inner man that brings justification (Rom 10:10) and to suppose that actions like confession or compliance equate to true religion is Pharisaical.
Let us confess the impact that his grace has had on our inner man when the light of the gospel shone and gave us life!
“5 For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” (2 Corinthians 4:5–6, ESV)
Soli Deo Gloria!
