The Blessing of True Confession

True Confession

In Psalm 51 David pours out his confession to God with brokenness and contrition. David does not justify or rationalize or minimize his sin and he recognizes who it is that he has primarily sinned against. Notably, his request is not merely for mercy but for the transforming grace of God to make him new and to restore him unto God honoring desires and a willing spirit that overcomes the weakness of the flesh by the joy of salvation. David knows that this kind of work by God in him would be praiseworthy, and more, it would be contagious.
